Memorize the following multiplication sentences in each set. When you feel that you have mastered them, go to the Timed Drills in the Some Helpful Tools section of this page.
Let's take a look at the parts of a multiplication sentence.
Once you have memorized the multiplication sentences in each set and can say them without making any errors, click on the Timed Drills link below to test your skills.
Since both numbers being multiplied are factors, the order is not important. The product will be the same.
For example:
3 x 4 = 12
and
4 x 3 = 12
A Fun Fact:
The first factor tells us how many
times to write the second factor in
order to get the product.
Or we could say that the second
factor tells us how many times
to write the first factor in order
to get the product.
Let's take a look:
Example: 2 x 4 = 8
We could write 2 four times.
2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 8
Or, we could write 4 two times.
4 + 4 = 8
So, if we know that 2 x 4 = 8, we
also know that 4 x 2 = 8.
