Math: Circumference - Tutorial
This section will cover the fundamentals and rules for finding the circumference.
Finding the Circumference - Method 1
The circumference is the distance around the circle. Finding the circumference of a circle is like finding the distance around a dome ceiling.
The formula for the circumference of a circle is:
If the diameter has a greater width, the circle is larger.
If the diameter has a lesser width, the circle is smaller.
Example 1: Find the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 4 inches.
Example 2: Find the circumference of a circle with a diameter of 12 inches.
Finding the Circumference - Method 2
Both ways are acceptable to use when finding the circumference of a circle.
Another way to write the formula is:
Note: The diameter is twice the size of the radius.
Geometry is a type of math that focuses on the study of shapes and measurements and relations to points, lines, angles, surfaces, and solids.
