Below are suggestions for taking and passing a math exam: For additional help, see the Some Hands-on Study Suggestions section on the Extra Tools page of this website.
Math Preparation
To prepare for an exam in math, take time to practice using the following mathematical operations:
Most math problems, regardless of how challenging they may appear, will include one or more of the above mentioned mathematical operations.
For more challenging problems, do not skip steps. Master the basic concept of the problem. Remember, every number has a purpose, and every step progresses in an orderly manner.
Step 1: Find the least common multiple of 8 and 9. The answer is 72. Therefore, the least common denominator is 72.
Step 2: Divide 72 by the denominators. Then
multiply 72 by the whole numbers.
Step 3: Multiply the whole numbers times
what is inside of the parentheses.
Step 4: Combine terms that are alike.
Step 5: Add 21 to both sides to get -7x by itself.
Step 6: Solve for x by dividing both sides by -7.
The following equation requires all four mathematical operations to solve.
